Well, it seems like not only the cast of Stranger Things but we all have grown up too, and we didn't have to pretend to be teenagers for it either. Stranger Things is one of those shows that you grow up watching and have affection towards, but gradually it turns irrelevant and not worth giving much consideration.
But Stranger Things had a different case, with the fan following being crazy when Will had powers and losing their minds when Will "didn't like girls," although my personal favorite episode from season 5 remains the episode 5, and my favorite season is obviously season 3, but the conclusion matters a lot because I recently finished watching Fear the Walking Dead, and yes, we don't love the half-cooked endings.
The finale must give comfort to the loyal fan base by giving a heartwarming send-off for at least 20 minutes after the epic action conclusion of the event. Stranger Things Season 5 might just be able to do that.
The episode begins where it left off, with huge stakes underway and uncertainties of any success, and it was able to deliver the impression that the makers are not messing around with the stakes of the finale, and every character felt included with having a purpose to serve.
EPISODE REVIEW
But as episodes proceed, each character loses its relevance with the ultimate plot of the whole show, which was about fighting the shadow monster and defeating Vecna, because after establishing how high the stakes were, episodes proceed to become a joke with poor writing. The makers were not sure what to do with all those characters, and ultimately the climax felt like a rip-off because of no real risk, failure, or any memorable moment that might have left an impression on the viewers. As I said earlier, it's the show that we grew up with and deserved an epic conclusion.
On the other hand, when I said that it requires at least 20 minutes after an epic battle, the episode gave us a full hour to show the afterlives of the characters and gave us the opportunity to take a deep dive into the future of all the characters, which makes your heart feel so warm because it actually feels like closure for the characters, although I wanted it to end on a sad note.
The happy contrast of the show works for us but might not work for everybody.
I think Netflix will milk this franchise into more spinoffs, but if you're planning to take 3-4 years between seasons, no thank you, we don't want it.
